Where to eat in Birmingham
Start with brunch at Yorks, a bustling, industrial-style restaurant. Alternatively, Leverton and Halls has transformed itself from a vegetable co-operative into Bournville’s foremost breakfast hub and deli or check out Boston Tea Party, an independent, family-owned café chain that specialises in ethically sourced ingredients.
Our workshops run both in the mornings and afternoons, so are ideal to combine with lunch or dinner and we couldn’t recommend Harborne Kitchen enough. It’s unpretentious fine dining and informal setting has been getting rave reviews. Michelin-starred Simpsons is also worth a visit, as is Adam’s; described by locals as the best restaurant in Birmingham.
What to see in Birmingham
Those looking for activities would be advised to check out the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery for it’s incredible collection of paintings and sculptures or the award-winning Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum for it’s fascinating, hands-on and interactive exhibits. They even have a vintage chocolate-packing machine! Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is also worth a visit – ideal if choosing a special anniversary gift or for the last-minute bride-to-be!
Where to shop in Birmingham
More shopping can be found in The Bullring, Birmingham’s iconic shopping centre, or Grand Central, home to John Lewis and other high end fashion and accessory stores. Link Street connects Grand Central to The Bullring and has developed its own shopping vibe. Dubbed as ‘Birmingham’s Carnaby Street’ you’ll find lots of fun and trendy pop-ups to buy limited or one-off pieces.
Finish the day with some cheeky cocktails in either Gingers Bar, The Alchemist or The Edgebaston and then, if you need a room, the Novotel offers reasonable rates and is extremely convenient for all the city has to offer. At 70 Broad St, there is a private car park on site and it is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from Birmingham New Street station.
